Kelsey at Kelowna
She skated as hard as should could all season, and quite frankly amazed me with her ability to get back up after crashing so much.
Hope to see you out there next year. Heal up strong.

The million dollar patch.
Ben Sloat thinks he's really cool because he got this super sick patch from NJK leathers, and I triple dog dare you to tell him otherwise. It gave us some good laughs this past race season because people kept calling him "The Slayer".

The rain is upon us. Dress appropriately.
Don't let the rain slow you down or make you lose your stoke. It's BC. It rains. Go skate!!
And take your dog for a walk while you're at it.

Tight heats at Britannia Beach
One of the many things I love about sanctioned events is that we have an area to push our skills to the limit as safely as our sport can be. You get to go toe-to-toe with your buddies and meet lots of new people along the way. It's a really great experience, and I think everyone who is into longboarding should give themselves a chance to be apart of it.

Kurt being awkward with babes - Whistler
Whistler was sponsored by NOS. There were NOS girls. We had to.
How and why did we get him in his boxers? Even better, why did those girls let him near them?

The Whistler Aerodome
There is an indoor bike complex at the Whistler Sliding Centre. It has a really sick foam pit that we've made sure up hit up each year.

Downhill Dodging 101 at Danger Bay
Sometimes at races, things can get a little hectic in your heat. Crashes happen- it's a part of the sport. There is a huge variable of things that could take you out at any time, causing you to get eliminated. It could be other riders, random wildlife on the track ala Buffalo Bill or Whistler, or just self-confidence.
You need to be prepared for things to get gnarly, and when they do- and they always do eventually- you should have some sort of strategy to get through these situations as safely as possible.
Ride safe folks!

Liam Poirier and Jesse MacIntosh get pitted on Knox.
After the first day of Skylands we still weren't tired so we decided to find a place to freeride around Kelowna. Mt. Knox was apparently the spot to be, because we ended up meeting a bunch of skaters there.
Liam and Jesse from Nanaimo were givin' er at the race-course all day and didn't show a sign of stopping at Knox.
I'm tired, so this is short.

Random photobomb from Calgary
Photobombin'. |
Cam and Dylan were also getting in on some hands-down action. Everyone in Vic seems to be getting into going faster now. I'm quite pleased.
Cam is back. Kinda.
Cam Jones was fighting forest fires all summer in Smithers and didn't have anyone else to skate with. When I found out he was going to be on stand-by in Duncan for a while I figured I had better go see him. He needed a set-up and safety gear but Dylan was able to hook him up good and proper.
Hit up some corners in the Properties and scared some mountain-bikers, then did some freeriding in Cowichan Bay. Gooooood day.
Look, there he goes. |
One Six rider Dylan Campbell came to see Cam too. |

Switchback Longboards gets weird at Brittania.
Switchback Longboards of Nanaimo are big sponsors for all of the races and other events here in BC. They always have a unique way of making the event memorable. At the Brittania Classic, it was the mini-ramp.
Brandon Gonzalo tearing it up in the Switchback Ramp.
They also delivered a great commentary.
